Location to park; excellent dinner and good dining staff; dvds to rent; laundry facilities; wallabies on premises.

    A bit pricey

It was close to Flinders Chase National Park and Vivonne bay Conservation Park / Beach. The accommodations and gardens were relaxing. The evening meal was probably the best I had during my two week trip to Australia. I was only able to spend one night but would have loved to stay much longer.

The walls between the units seem pretty thin. Although the neighboring occupants were not noisy, you could still hear some of their movements and conversation.

Restaurant food and service was very good.

Very basic room facilities, service could be much more personal and improved.

Upgrade for the terrace was good

The facilities, restaurant and staff are excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the restaurant is a three star Michelen.

My only complaint was the way my American credit card was charged. The hotel uses a firm called travelex and the exchange rate was very bad. At the time of the transaction the exchang rate was $1.05 usd to $1 aud. However the exchange rate of travelex $1.15 usd to $1 aud and this was the only time during my travels I was charged this exorbitant rate. I would suggest to the hotel they discontinue the use of travelex.

A fantastic location, very close to the wildlife. Highlight was hand feeding the wallabies. Great restaurant. Friendly and welcoming staff.

    Nothing.

    Location, location, location.

High cost restaurant, taking advantage of lack of competition.

I liked the verandah rooms which were sited around a large internal courtyard. A lovely aspect.

The eco rooms were so basic they were only suitable for backpackers. On your booking website the term eco is not clear. I thought it meant environmental but it really means economy. None of the staff in the restaurant had had any sort of training and the service was totally hit and miss. They were pleasant but when one pays dearly for a meal one expects proper service. Not good at all. Eg Cheese plate advertises 3 cheeses being cheddar, brie and a blue vein cheese. When the plate arrived there were two lots of cheddar, the brie but no blue vein. When pointing this out to the waiter the plate was taken back to the kitchen and it came back with the blue vein. Doesn't anyone check the plating up.

    Close to national park

Poor or over-priced facilities. It was not clear from the advertising what 'eco-lodge' meant. In my opinion (Howard Williams), the lodge was not environmentally friendly, nor was it 'eco' as in ecological, nor even economical, in fact it was vastly over-priced. Just what did the 'eco' was supposed to allude to I do not know. I felt cheated.

Good restaurant. Beautiful scenery close at hand and wonderful natural views and places of interest to visit.

Very remote and you definitely need transport. Staff were not well informed or helpful about things to do near by. Bike hire mentioned in the description of the hotel was none existent and there did not appear to be any bike tracks.

  • Couple

    Location and the wilderness aspect

Lack of heating facilities in the room; staff not as courteous/polite and friendly. Price was a bit on the steep side and in-house restaurant was overpriced

Tastefully decorated and located directly outside Flinders Chase National Park, the courtyard suites are a pleasure to stay in. During the afternoon and evening a number of wallabies will hop by your room, hoping for a bit of the food provided to you by the hotel staff on checkin. They are friendly enough to eat out of your hand, which is a neat experience.

There was a coin sized orange stain set into one of my sheets, but this was the only flaw in the otherwise sparkling clean room. One of the two nights I stayed here a lot of guests checked out early morning, and the suitcases on the porch/walkway make quite a bit of noise - so if you're a light/late sleeper make sure you request a room as far as possible down the path. (The other night people seemed to sleep in late, and this wasn't a factor) These are both minor issues though, and I would highly recommend staying here. You may want to pass on the packed lunch, as only the sandwich is hand-made - and you can get a far superior lunch at the Flinders Chase park restaurant (excellent burgers!).
